Prateek successfully delivered the following tutorial for AIMRC during 2-4pm on Oct 2 with 10+ attendees. We would like to thank Hao Van who helped  develop materials and  attended the workshop. This is the third workshop planned by AIMRC data science core.

Title: Programmatic querying of large (vision) language models for research with focus on scientific images.

Description: Learn about the state-of-the art large language models and large vision language models and how to use them programmatically. This will also be a hands-on workshop like the previous ones where we will go through a variety of models to perform tasks like captioning, classification, segmentation, and so on. We hope that after this workshop you will be able to think of ideas to leverage and incorporate the ever-increasing power of LLMs into your own research. This workshop is beginner-friendly.

Workshop structure: A series of a few modules with each module consisting of a lecture, a demo, and an exercise. Attendees are encouraged to have a laptop/computer so that they can practice the exercises during the workshop.

When: Oct 02, 2024, 2-4 pm

Where: JBHT 535 (in-person) or via Zoom (https://zoom.us/j/9274855971). We will not be able to answer individual questions for online attendees, but they will be able to access all the resources and complete the exercises just like the in-person attendees.

Prerequisites: None. You don’t need to have any software installed on your computer or any pre-existing knowledge of Python or programming.

Sign-Up: Please sign up for the workshop here by Oct 01, 2024, 11:59 pm. Because space may be limited, we encourage you to sign up as early as possible. For more up-to-date information about the Workshop or the Data Science Core in general, please visit our GitHub page.
